Music, art, folklore, wine and food are only some of the topics of the rich calendar of events that Macugnaga offers all year around. Both in summer than in winter events and entertainments enliven the heart of this Walser village where it’s ancient traditions live again
Future appointments:
- December 24th, 2008: Santa Claus arrives
At 6 pm, in the main square of Macugnaga, Santa Claus arrives with sweets and gifts for all the children. At 11 pm there will be the celebration of “Midnight Mass” in the Church of Staffa.
- December 29th, 2008: Baby torchlight parade and games with the Alpine Guides of Macugnaga
The Ski School Macugnaga organizes for the youngest guests an amusing night on the ski with torchlight, departure at 4.15 pm from the Chairlift in Pecetto. Registration can be done at the Ski School Macugnaga. During the evening, at the Kongresshous in Staffa, the Alpine Guides of Macugnaga will present their program for summer 2009 and will entertain the children with games.
- December 30th, 2008: End of the year torchlight and Party in the square
As in the past years, it will be possible to admire the tricolored torchlight that moves along the slopes of Belvedere. All the Organizations of this “walser” village will ski down from the bottom of Monte Rosa till the centre of Macugnaga to say good bay to year 2008. In the square of Staffa there will be a big party with music, dances, cakes and “vin brulé”.
- January 1st, 2009: New Year’s Concert
Usual classical music appointment at the Kongresshous in Staffa with the New Year’s Concert.
- January 5th, 2009: the “Befana” arrives
At 5.30 pm, at the Ski School Macugnaga, in Staff, the “Befane” (old ladies) will come from the Old “Dorf” (hamlet) and will gift all the children.
- January 5th, 2009: Ice climbing in the Mine
The Alpine Guides of Macugnaga will perform a demonstrative climb on the ice of the “Guia” Gold Mine.
